lipofilling
(Fat filling in cheeks and lips)
what is lipofilling?
Lipofilling, also known as fat transfer, is a procedure in which certain areas of the body are filled with one’s own body fat. It is a minimally invasive procedure and can enhance facial features, such as the cheeks and lips. Using conventional liposuction, the fat is extracted using tiny cannulas and small incisions. The separated fat cells are subsequently injected into the deficient area after being filtered. Lipofilling adds volume and eliminates scarring and improves the quality and flexibility of the skin above it.
why opt for lipofilling?
The procedure is highly effective for individuals who want to increase their cheeks plumpness and restore volume to the lips.
what does the procedure involve?
The fat used to fill the cheeks and lips can be extracted from various areas of the body where there is enough fat, including the abdomen and thighs. The fat is extracted through liposuction, a procedure in which excess fat cells are suctioned out of the body using a special vacuum.
Once the fat cells have been extracted from the body, they are sterilised and prepared before being injected into the treatment area. The fat is injected in very small amounts and is evenly distributed into the treatment area.
The procedure is generally performed under local anaesthetic and generally takes around an hour, depending on the size of the areas being treated.
what can i expect after the procedure?
You may experience some bruising, swelling, and sensitivity following treatment. A cold compress can help minimise swelling, although it should subside gradually over time.
All swelling should subside within three weeks following treatment, although Dr September will generally only assess the final result after three months. By this time, some of the transplanted fat cells will have died, and any over-correction will have settled. Follow-up treatments may be recommended if you would like to increase the volume of the treatment areas some more.
face lift / neck lift / brow lift / thread lift
what is a face lift?
A facelift is a procedure in which the skin in the face is tightened for a more youthful appearance, while the muscles and fat are repositioned for an enhanced overall appearance. During the procedure, Dr September will make incisions near the temples at the hairline and behind your ears, through which he will be able to access the tissue and muscles underneath the skin.
what is a neck lift?
A neck lift refers to a group of procedures performed to enhance the overall appearance of the neck. Some neck lift procedures may include liposuction to remove excess fat; Botox injections to restore volume; surgical removal of excess skin; surgical altering of neck muscles; and injections formulated to remove excess skin from under the chin. A neck lift is often considered by individuals unhappy with excess skin and fat in the neck area.
what is a brow lift?
A brow lift is performed to lift and tighten the skin of the forehead, upper eyelids and eyebrows. Dr September will require an incision from the ears level and up around your hairline during a classic lift. On the other hand, during an endoscopic lift, Dr September will make several small incisions in the scalp through which surgical instruments are inserted. An endoscopic brow lift is less invasive, with minimal scarring and a much shorter recovery period.
what is a thread lift?
A thread lift is a procedure in which the skin around the cheeks, jawline, and neck is tightened. An alternative to traditional facelift surgery, a thread lift is a minimally invasive procedure involving using clear threads to hold repositioned skin and tissue in place. The threads are inserted into the face through tiny incisions in the target area. The threads are attached to the skin and pulled back to lift and smooth out the facial skin, helping to eliminate sagging.
otoplasty
what is otoplasty?
Otoplasty is a procedure in which the shape, position, or size of the ears is altered.
why opt for otoplasty?
Otoplasty is often an effective option for individuals who are unhappy with the appearance of their ears, particularly in the case of birth defects and injuries. The procedure can be performed when the ears have reached their full size, although in some cases, the surgery is performed on patients as young as three years old, depending on the case.
The procedure may also be performed for cosmetic reasons. Those who feel that their ears stick out too far from their head may consider the surgery, while individuals with disproportionately large or asymmetrical ears may benefit from otoplasty.
what does the procedure involve?
The technique that Dr September chooses to use will depend on the type of correction that is required. Depending on the case, he will make incisions either within the inner creases of the ears or at the backs of the ears.
Once he has made the incisions, Dr September will remove any excess cartilage and skin and fold the cartilage of the ears in a proper position. The cartilage will be secured in place with internal stitches before the incisions are stitched closed.
what can i expect after the procedure?
Once the procedure has been completed, Dr September will bandage your ears to protect them while they heal. You might feel some mild discomfort, in which case Dr September will prescribe pain medications.
You will need to keep pressure off your ears while they heal, so you should avoid sleeping on your side and rubbing the incisions.
A few days following the procedure, you will visit Dr September for a follow-up appointment, at which time he will remove your bandages. It is quite normal to experience some swelling at this stage. Dr September will advise you on caring for your ears and inform you when you can resume your usual activities.
lip
1. LARGE LIP CORRECTION
what is large lip correction?
Large lip correction is a procedure in which the size of the lips is reduced by removing excess tissue.
why opt for large lip correction?
The procedure is often considered by individuals who feel that their lips are disproportionately large. The procedure may be performed for patients who have naturally large lips or who are unhappy with the results of a previous lip augmentation procedure.
what does the procedure involve?
It is quite normal to experience some minor swelling and discomfort following the procedure. Dr September will prescribe pain medication if necessary and advise you on managing any pain, swelling, bruising or redness in the treatment area.

2. LIP AUGMENTATION WITH LIP FILLING
what is lip augmentation?
Lip augmentation is a procedure in which the appearance of the lips is enhanced with the use of implants for a plumper, more youthful appearance.
why opt for lip augmentation?
The procedure is highly effective for individuals with thin lips who want to enhance their overall appearance and achieve fuller, more shapely lips.
what does the procedure involve?
During the procedure, Dr September will make small incisions in the lips, most often at the corners of the mouth. He will then create a narrow tunnel in which the implant will be inserted. The lip implant will be threaded into the lip and trimmed to the proper length before the incisions are stitched closed.
Several implant types may be used. Dr September will advise you of the best option for you, based on your desired outcome.
what can i expect after the procedure?
You may experience some minor swelling following surgery, which should subside within a few days. Dr September will prescribe pain medication if necessary and advise you on managing any pain, swelling, bruising or redness in the treatment area.
Breast
breast lift (mastopexy)
what is a breast lift?
A breast lift, also known as a mastopexy, is a procedure in which the breasts are reshaped and raised to restore a firmer, more youthful appearance. Although a breast lift will not alter the size of the breasts, the procedure may be combined with a breast augmentation or reduction surgery if necessary.
why opt for a breast lift?
A breast lift procedure is an effective means of restoring firmness and elasticity in the breasts and is a popular option for women who have been through pregnancy and breastfeeding. After pregnancy, it is completely normal to experience some sagging, while weight fluctuations can also cause the breast skin to stretch. Ligaments in the breasts often tend to stretch and sag as a result of the natural ageing process.
You might consider undergoing a breast lift procedure if you have noticed some drooping, if your breasts have lost volume and shape, if you have seen some asymmetry, or if your nipples point downwards.
what does the procedure involve?
Several techniques may be used during a breast lift procedure. Dr September will advise you of the best option for your needs, depending on the case.
During the procedure, Dr September will make incisions around the areolas, across the breast creases, or downward from the areola to the breast creases. Excess breast skin will be removed, and your nipples will be repositioned higher on the chest. When the breasts have been sufficiently reshaped, the incisions will be stitched or taped closed.
what can i expect after the procedure?
After the procedure is complete, your breasts will be bandaged with gauze, and you may need to wear a surgical bra for support and comfort. Dr September may place tubes at the incision site to drain any excess fluid from the body.
It is quite normal to experience some swelling and bruising following the procedure. Dr September will advise you as to when you may resume your normal activities.
prosthetic
1. LIPOFILLING
what is lipofilling?
Breast lipofilling refers to a fat transfer technique in which fat is taken from parts of the body and injected into the breasts to enhance their size.
why opt for lipofilling?
Lipofilling is a permanent means of breast enlargement, and because the fat is injected into the breasts, the procedure leaves almost no visible scars. The fat transferred into the breasts is completely natural, and there is generally less risk of infection than with the use of breast implants.
what does the procedure involve?
There are two stages of the breast lipofilling procedure. First, fat cells are harvested from various parts of the body, including the abdomen, thighs or buttocks. A specialised system is then used to spin the cells, separating the good fat cells from the oils and non-viable cells.
Once the fat cells have been properly prepared, a very fine tube injects them into the breasts.
what can i expect after the procedure?
It is quite normal to experience some swelling after the procedure, which will subside with time. You may notice some small puncture marks at the crease of the breast, which will heal and fade. You may also see some slight scarring at the site where the fat cells were removed from your body.
2. REDUCTION
what is a breast reduction?
Breast reduction surgery, also known as reduction mammaplasty, is a procedure in which excess fat, tissue, and skin are removed from the breasts to reduce their size.
why opt for a breast reduction?
Breast reduction surgery is often an effective option for women who have particularly large breasts and would like to achieve better proportions. Those who experience discomfort due to having large breasts, low self-esteem, or difficulty enjoying physical activities may also be considered the procedure.
what does the procedure involve?
During the procedure, Dr September will make an incision around the areola and down each breast through which excess tissue, fat, and skin will be removed. Once the excess tissue has been removed, the breasts will be reshaped, and the areola and nipple will be repositioned. In some cases, liposuction is performed to remove excess fat from the breasts.
what can i expect after the procedure?
After the procedure is complete, your breasts will be bandaged with gauze, and you may need to wear a surgical bra for support and comfort. Dr September may place tubes at the incision site to drain any excess fluid from the body.
It is quite normal to experience some swelling and bruising following the procedure. Dr September will advise you as to when you may resume your normal activities.
Thighs
liposuction (thunder thigh reduction)
what is liposuction?
Liposuction is a procedure in which excess fat is removed from the body. A popular cosmetic surgery option, liposuction can effectively improve the contours of the body. In the case of a thunder thigh reduction, excess fat is removed from the thighs. Thighs, buttocks, abdomen, arms, and chin are all common targets.
why opt for liposuction?
Liposuction is best suited to patients who don’t have excess skin and who have good skin elasticity. If you generally have good muscle tone but struggle with fat deposits resistant to diet and exercise, you might consider liposuction. Liposuction is a one-day operation that can last up to 90 minutes, depending on the quantity of liposuction needed.
what does the procedure involve?
There are a few different types of liposuction, the most common of which is known as tumescent liposuction. Dr September will inject a sterile saline solution into your thighs before inserting a thin tube connected to a vacuum during this procedure. The vacuum works by suctioning fat from the body.
Other types of liposuction include ultrasound-assisted liposuction, in which sound waves are used to destroy and liquefy fat cells so that they can be suctioned out of the body, and laser-assisted liposuction, in which a laser is used to liquefy the fat cells.
what can i expect after the procedure?
You may need to wear a compression garment for a month or two following a thunder thigh reduction. This will help to keep any swelling under control. Dr September may prescribe antibiotics to prevent infection after the procedure. You will need to rest after treatment and may need to take a break from your usual exercise routine for up to two weeks.
During liposuction, fat cells are removed permanently from the body. However, it is important to maintain a regular exercise regime and follow a balanced, healthy eating plan for best results.
medial thigh lift
what is a medial thigh lift?
A medial thigh lift is a procedure in which the overall appearance of the thighs is improved by tightening the skin on the upper part of the inner thigh. The most common type of thigh lift is a medial thigh lift. An incision from your groin down near your knee or into the rear of your thigh area is used to address drooping skin in your inner thighs.
why opt for a medial thigh lift?
A medial thigh lift helps to improve the appearance of the thighs and is an effective option for those who have noticed some flabbiness and sagging in the inner thighs. It is often a popular procedure for individuals who have lost significant weight and would like to tighten loose, excess skin and soft tissue.
The procedure is best suited to individuals who are generally healthy and at a stable weight.
what does the procedure involve?
A medial thigh lift is performed under general anaesthetic. During the procedure, Dr September will make an incision from the groin to the crease of the buttock. The skin is lifted, and any excess fat and tissue are removed. This helps tighten the skin on the upper part of the inner thigh and improves the contour of the thigh.
what can i expect after the procedure?
Your recovery time will depend on the extent of your procedure, although in most cases, post-operative pain and discomfort should be minimal. Dr September will prescribe medications to ease any discomfort if necessary.
After surgery, you should rest and avoid leg movement as much as possible. You may need to take up to a week off work while you recover. It is normal to experience some bruising and swelling following a medial thigh lift, but this should subside within a month. It is best to avoid very strenuous exercise and heavy lifting until you have completely healed. Dr September will advise you as to when you may resume your normal routine.

fillers
Dermal fillers are gel-like substances injected beneath the skin to replace lost volume, smooth wrinkles and creases, and enhance facial contours. Dermal fillers are made of hyaluronic acid, which exists naturally in the skin and is therefore not foreign to it.
a. juvederm
Juvederm is a hyaluronic acid filler used to restore facial contours and helps to reduce the visible signs of ageing. It can enhance the appearance of the cheeks and lips and the areas around the nose and mouth.
Juvederm works by increasing the volume of the facial tissue using hyaluronic acid, a naturally found substance in the body. The ingredient works by stimulating the body’s collagen production, decreasing the appearance of wrinkles and plumping sagging skin.
b. voluma
Voluma is a hyaluronic acid filler that is used to restore volume to the cheeks. The injectable formula works by adding volume beneath the skin’s surface, increasing the size of the cheeks.
Before administering Voluma, Dr September will mark the areas of your cheeks that you would like treated. The filler will then be injected into your skin, and your cheeks will be lightly massaged to ensure that the formula is evenly distributed. This also helps to reduce the risk of swelling after treatment. The procedure is relatively quick and takes between 15 and 60 minutes, depending on your desired outcome.
c. volbella
Volbella is a dermal filler with a hyaluronic acid-based that enhances the appearance of the lips. The filler has a gel-like consistency and works by stimulating the body’s collagen production, adding volume to the lips.
Volbella is formulated with hyaluronic acid, which is a substance naturally found in the body. As we age, the body’s hyaluronic acid and collagen production decrease, leading to a loss of volume and skin elasticity. The injectable dermal filler stimulates collagen production and gives the skin and facial features a pumper, more youthful look.
botox
what is botox?
Botox is an injectable muscle relaxer that temporarily paralyses the muscles and reduces fine lines and wrinkles. The treatment is minimally invasive and is a highly effective treatment of wrinkles around the eyes and forehead.
why get botox?
When given by a competent medical professional, injections are completely safe. Whether it’s for migraines or overactive bladder, injections help patients reclaim their lives by allowing them to participate in activities that were previously impossible due to medical difficulties. Botox is a popular cosmetic procedure for reducing fine lines and wrinkles, which improves a person’s appearance and emotional well-being.
Patients who suffer from chronic pain find it difficult to manage daily, which causes them to investigate both traditional and non-traditional therapy options. Injections are quick and painless, and there are no after-care requirements so that you may get back to your normal routine right away.
how does botox work?
The Botox formula works by temporarily blocking nerve signals and muscle contractions, which improves the appearance of visible lines and wrinkles. It also helps to slow down the development of new lines, as the contraction of facial muscles is temporarily stopped.
During the procedure, Dr September will administer the Botox with a thin needle. In most cases, between three and five injections will be administered to each area of treatment. The entire procedure is very quick, often taking as little as ten minutes to complete.
what can i expect after the procedure?
After the Botox procedure is complete, you will need to avoid rubbing and touching the treated area. You should, however, be able to resume your normal activities immediately after the procedure.
You can expect to see results within a day or two following the Botox procedure. The results typically last up to four months, and additional treatments can help maintain the procedure results.
Reconstructive Surgery
Microsurgery
facial re-animation surgery
(gracilis muscle transfer)
what is a gracilis muscle transfer?
If a patient has experienced paralysis in the facial muscles, facial re-animation surgery using a gracilis muscle transfer may be recommended. During the gracilis muscle transfer procedure, a muscle from the thigh is connected to the nerves in the face to allow for facial movement.
why opt for a gracilis muscle transfer?
Facial re-animation surgery is best suited to patients who have good nerve growth potential. The procedure achieves effective results in those who are unable to smile as a result of facial palsy. It is often recommended for those who have experienced facial palsy for more than two years and are likely to have muscles that have deteriorated to such an extent that new muscles need to be introduced.
what does the procedure involve?
The gracilis muscle is transferred from the upper inner thigh to the face affected by palsy during the procedure. Dr September will make an incision in the inner thigh, through which a part of the gracilis muscle (along with the nerve and blood vessels) are removed. An incision is made in the affected area of the face, and the muscle is connected to blood vessels using microsurgery. This keeps the muscles alive and allows the nerve to activate the muscles in the face. The transferred muscle is stitched to the corner of the mouth from the inside. When the muscle contracts, the mouth is pulled into a smile.
what can i expect after the procedure?
You may feel some pain following surgery, but Dr September will prescribe any necessary medications to ease discomfort. You may need to stay in hospital for around a week following the procedure so that your recovery can be carefully monitored. Once you are comfortable enough, you may return home. It can take up to three months to begin to notice the surgery results, and Dr September will arrange to see you for several follow-up consultations.
bone reconstruction
what is bone reconstruction?
Bone reconstruction techniques are used in the upper and lower limbs to replace missing bone and lengthen or straighten deformed sections of the arms and legs. The procedure may be recommended in bone infection, limb deformity, non-healing fractures; limb length discrepancy; and bone tumours.
why get bone reconstruction?
A bone graft may be employed in multiple or difficult fractures or those that do not heal well after the first therapy. Fusion is a procedure that allows two bones to heal together across a damaged joint. The spine is the most common site for fusion. Bone regeneration is utilised to replace bone that has been lost due to disease, infection, or injury. Small quantities of bone in bone cavities or big pieces of bones can be used in this way. A graft can aid bone healing around medically implanted devices such as joint replacements, plates, and screws.
what does the procedure involve?
In cases of cancer, the bone reconstruction procedure is performed simultaneously as the tumour removal surgery. Dr September will remove the tumour and some surrounding tissue before reconstructing the bone using the patient’s own bone. He will use microsurgery techniques to rebuild the circulatory system and restore muscle function.
Bone reconstruction surgery in the upper or lower limbs may also be performed in cases where a fracture has failed to heal or when there has been a traumatic injury to an arm or leg.
what can i expect after the procedure?
You can expect a rehabilitation period of anywhere between six weeks and six months following bone reconstruction in a lower or upper limb. Your recovery will depend on several factors, including the type of procedure performed, as well as your overall health. Dr September will advise you of the best ways to aid recovery and regain full function of the limbs.
replantation and traumatically amputated fingers and thumbs
what is replantation?
Replantation refers to the surgical reattachment of a finger or thumb that has been traumatically amputated due to an accident. The procedure is performed to restore the function of the damaged finger or thumb.
why is replantation done?
Replantation surgery is a complicated, technically challenging surgical procedure that involves reattaching a severed body part to the body, most typically a finger, hand, or arm. Thanks to significant developments in procedures and available technologies, the operation is utilised to reattach toes, feet, legs, ears, lips, tongue, and even genitals. Thousands of patients have had severed body parts reattached, averting the loss of hand or arm function due to amputations since the technique was first used in 1962. The replanted pieces have an average survival rate of 80 percent. The type of injury has a significant impact on the long-term functional consequences of replantation.
what does the procedure involve?
Dr September will carefully remove any damaged tissue from the affected area before shortening and re-joining the bone ends with pins, wires, plates, or screws during the procedure. The muscles, tendons, arteries, nerves, and veins are then repaired. In some cases, skin grafts or artificial spacers of bone, skin, blood vessels, and tendons may be required. In the case of graft, tissue may be taken from the patient’s body if possible.
what can i expect after the procedure?
Braces are utilised from the start to protect the newly healed tendons while allowing the patient to move the replanted component. Limited motion therapy keeps joints from stiffening, muscles flexible, and scar formation to a minimum. Dr September will also recommend seeing a physiotherapist, as physical therapy often forms an important part of recovery. Even after you have healed, you may find that you cannot complete all of your goals. Many people may benefit from custom-made equipment that enables them to engage in specific activities or hobbies.
head and neck reconstruction
a. mandible (free fibula flap)
The fibula flap may fill a hole in the upper or lower jawbone and is a common way of replacing lost or damaged bone following cancer treatment. Squamous cell carcinoma and osteogenic sarcomas are the most prevalent cancers for which mandible repair is undertaken. During the procedure, Dr September will remove bone from the lower part of the leg (along with blood vessels). The bone is then transferred to the head and neck. The transferred bone is secured in place with plates and screws, while the blood vessels in the bone are connected to the blood vessels in the neck. This keeps the transferred fibula flap alive and functioning in its new position.
b. oral cancers / pharyngeal cancer
In cases of oral cancer, it is possible to reconstruct areas of the head and neck that have been affected by the disease. Dr September specialises in microsurgery, in which he uses a patient’s own tissue to reconstruct various parts of the body. During the procedure, he will detach tissue from one part of the body and transfer it to another area. The transferred tissue may include skin, fat, muscle, and bone and is transferred with the help of a microscope and fine stitches, which allow the reconnection of tiny blood vessels.
c. oesophageal reconstruction
After cancer surgery, Dr September may recommend oesophageal reconstruction. During the procedure, he may use a section of your small intestine to reconstruct the oesophagus and recreate the connection between the mouth and stomach. Using microsurgery, Dr September will ensure that there is a healthy blood supply to the transplanted tissue. The small intestine is used in oesophageal reconstruction because it is similar to the oesophagus and produces good results. Once you have recovered, you will be able to eat and swallow food as normal.
autologous breast reconstructive
(diep flap)
what is autologous breast reconstruction?
Autologous breast reconstruction is a procedure in which tissue (including fat and skin) is taken from another part of the body and used to reshape the breast. The tissue may be taken from the abdominal area, the back, buttocks, or thighs. In the case of a DIEP flap reconstruction, the tissue is taken from the lower abdomen. Although fat and tissue are removed, the abdominal muscles are left intact. The tissue can be picked up and relocated to a new location in your chest after being disconnected from its original blood arteries. A “free flap” is a term that is frequently used to describe this situation. Alternatively, the tissue can be relocated under your skin to your chest while remaining attached to its original blood veins. A “pedicled flap” is a term used to describe this type of flap. Both types of tissue are sewn into place after being shaped into the shape of a breast.
why opt for the procedure?
The procedure is often performed at the same time as a mastectomy. It can also be done after a mastectomy and any other treatments for breast cancer have been completed. The procedure is best suited to individuals who have enough extra tissue in the abdominal area.
what does the procedure involve?
During a DIEP flap, breast reconstruction, fat, skin, and blood vessels are taken from the lower belly and relocated to the chest to rebuild the breasts. Dr September will reattach the blood vessels to the chest using microsurgery.
what can i expect after the procedure?
Because skin and fat are removed from the abdomen during the procedure, you can expect a flatter and tighter belly following treatment. You will, however, notice a visible scar that stretches from one hipbone to the other, although in most cases, it will be below the bikini line.
You can expect to experience some discomfort following surgery, and you will need to spend a few days in the hospital while you recover. We recommend that you wear a surgical bra for around two weeks, and you will need to avoid strenuous exercise for six weeks.
You can expect your reconstructed breasts to feel very similar to natural breasts because they are made from your own tissue.

reconstruction following cancer surgery or trauma
what is reconstructive surgery for head and neck?
It is possible to reconstruct parts of the head and neck that have been affected by cancer or trauma using microsurgery. In some cases, it is possible to reconstruct the face and neck by using tissues from other body parts, including the thighs, arms, and abdomen. The lower jaw can often be reconstructed with the use of bone from the lower leg.
what is reconstructive microsurgery?
Reconstructive microsurgery is a surgical speciality that involves sophisticated operating microscopes and precise tools to repair delicate systems such as blood arteries and nerves with diameters of less than a few millimetres. Reconstructive microsurgery is utilised to transplant tissues and organs, including bone, muscle, skin, and blood supply.
what does the procedure involve?
During reconstructive microsurgery, Dr September uses a high-magnification microscope to isolate tissue from one area of the body on an artery or vein and detach it before transferring it to the part of the body affected by cancer. The harvested tissue is known as a ‘free flap’ and may include a combination of skin, fat, muscle, and bone, depending on the specific procedure.
With a microscope and very fine stitches, Dr September can reconnect tiny blood vessels from the free flap to the recipient vessels in the affected area of the body. The high-magnification microscope allows Dr September to work with extreme precision and ensure that healthy blood flow is achieved.
what can i expect after the procedure?
Because the patient’s own tissue is used in reconstructive microsurgery of the head and neck, there is minimal scarring, and the result is natural-looking. There is minimal damage to the donor site, promoting faster recovery and reduced complications following surgery. Gauze dressings or bandages will be put to your incisions after your microsurgery treatment. As the donor site recovers after surgery, an elastic bandage or compression garment may help to reduce swelling and support it. Following a microsurgical procedure, blood flow must be closely monitored, preferably in a hospital setting with dedicated professionals familiar with caring for microsurgery patients. The surgeon’s preference and the surgery determine whether or not free flap monitoring is used. Small, thin tubes can be inserted beneath the skin to drain any extra blood or fluid accumulated.
Breast Reconstruction
breast lift (mastopexy)
what is a breast lift?

Lower Limb
trauma reconstruction
what is trauma reconstruction?
Trauma reconstructive surgery is used to heal individuals who have been injured in a severe accident. Reconstructive surgery aims to improve both function and appearance. Reconstructive surgery may be performed on the lower limbs following a trauma, in which case the procedure may involve skin grafts, local/regional flaps, and microsurgery, depending on the situation. Traumatic injuries can occur at any time due to falls, violence, car accidents, work injuries, burns and other events. In severe cases, an expert plastic and reconstructive surgeon restores form and function to the site of injury.
why opt for trauma reconstruction?
Large or complicated wounds are common after a traumatic event. Plastic surgeons have a special grasp of wound healing and frequently offer advice on caring for wounds. Complex or big wounds that do not heal on their own may necessitate surgical reconstruction.
what does the procedure involve?
In a skin graft, a superficial section of skin without a blood supply is taken from one area of the body and transferred to an area affected by a wound or defect.
When a local/regional flap is required, flaps of tissue consisting of muscle are used in areas where soft tissue has been severely damaged.
During microsurgery, free flaps made up of skin, fat, muscle and bone are disconnected from their blood supply and connected to the blood vessels in the area affected by trauma.
what can i expect after the procedure?
After surgery, your incisions will be dressed and bandaged. You may have a drainage tube placed to drain any excess fluid and blood from your body.
Dr September will explain how to take care of your surgical site best to stay clean and free from infection. He will prescribe medications to help ease any pain and discomfort following surgery.
You can expect some swelling while your body heals. Try and rest as much as possible during this recovery period.
Hand Surgery
hand surgery
what is hand surgery?
Hand surgery may be performed for several reasons and is often a very effective means of treating conditions that cause pain and discomfort and problems with mobility and function. Hand surgery may also be performed to repair defects caused as a result of injury.
why opt for hand surgery?
Some of the most common reasons for seeking reconstructive hand surgery include having rheumatoid arthritis, carpal tunnel syndrome, or Dupuytren’s contracture. Those who have experienced severe trauma to the hands may also be suited to the surgery. Surgery is rarely carried out to improve the look of the hands, although improving their appearance may be a welcome side-effect.
what does the procedure involve?
Before undergoing hand surgery, you will meet with Dr September so that he can determine whether the treatment is suited to your condition. At this stage, you are encouraged to raise any questions or concerns you may have.
If you have suffered an injury, Dr September may perform tendon repair during the surgery, in which case he will reconnect the damaged tendon to restore movement.
In the case of carpal tunnel syndrome, Dr September will make an incision in the palm, which will give him access to the constricted tissue that is causing pressure on the median nerve.
The technique that Dr September chooses to use will depend on the condition you seek treatment for.
what can i expect after the procedure?
After surgery, Dr September will explain how to take care of your hand during recovery best. He will prescribe medications to help ease any post-operative pain and discomfort.
Hand therapy exercises will also form an important part of your recovery. Dr September will show you which exercises to do to restore strength and flexibility to your hand. He will also schedule follow-up consultations to ensure that your hand is healing as it should.
Skin Cancer Surgery
skin cancer surgery
what is skin cancer surgery?
In some cases, skin cancer may require surgical treatment, in which cancerous lesions or growths may be removed. Dr September will remove skin cancer using very specialised surgical techniques. He will then reconstruct the area of treatment to restore your appearance as much as possible.
why opt for skin cancer surgery?
If cancer cells are seen, a layer of skin is removed and examined. This is repeated until the skin samples are free of cancer cells. This is a slow process, often taking several hours, but it means that more normal skin near the tumour can be saved. This can help the area look better after surgery.
what does the procedure involve?
The procedure will depend on the type of cancerous lesion you need to have removed, as well as its size and location. Small lesions can often be removed using a simple procedure known as excision, in which case a very sharp razor is used. This procedure may be recommended for moles, small growths and tumours.
In other cases, particularly when the cancerous cells affect a larger area, Dr September may perform surgery to remove diseased tissue. Once the cancerous cells have been removed, reconstruction of the skin can begin.
During the reconstruction process, healthy tissue (either from a skin graft or another part of the body) is repositioned over the wound. The tissue is shaped to match the natural curves of the face or body to minimise scarring.
what can i expect after the procedure?
You may experience some tenderness at the site of surgery following your procedure. Dr September will explain how to keep your wounds clean and free from infection, and he will prescribe medications to help ease any discomfort.
The healing process can take several weeks or months, depending on the extent of the surgery. Incision lines will fade over time, although follow-up procedures may be recommended to perfect your reconstruction in some cases.
You should try and avoid sun exposure while your wounds heal to avoid pigmentation and darkening of scars. You will need to arrange follow-up consultations with your doctor to detect any new skin lesions early.
